2017 IEEE - International Conference on SIGNAL IMAGE TECHNOLOGY & INTERNET BASED SYSTEMS (SITIS 2017) Track Multimedia Information Retrieval and Applications (MIRA) December 4 - 7, 2017. Jaipur, India http://www.sitis-conf.org/

The SITIS conference is dedicated to research on the technologies used to represent, share and process information in various forms, ranging from signal, image, and multimedia data to traditional structured data and semi structured data found in the web.

The expansion of online multimedia and other social media appearing on mobile, wearable and other devices has become extremely accelerated in recent years. The Multimedia Information Retrieval and Applications (MIRA) track is based on emerging interdisciplinary multimedia research and systems dealing with conventional and big multimedia data. In 2017 the track focuses on the research on new methods, applications and services using multimedia analysis and machine learning as well as their applications and services for the retrieval, classification, semantics and detection of multimedia information including 3D/VR/AR/MR even in big multimedia databases. The track also welcomes new topics that can help to establish semantical and contextual relations among users based on the information of their interest.

The topics of interest of the track include, but are not limited to:

() Multimedia Analysis and Processing () - Content-based analysis for big multimedia data - Feature extraction for big multimedia data representation - Machine learning for multimedia - Deep learning for event detection and classification - Multimedia signal processing and analysis - Multimedia search and retrieval - Image and video indexing and classification - Semantics and emotion in multimedia systems - Computation Linguistics for multimedia IR - Multimedia data modeling and visualization - Multimedia coding, compression, and processing - Filtering, Time-Sensitive and Real-time Search - Personalized Search - Joint multimodal processing and analysis

() Multimedia Applications, Systems and Services () - Retrieval and annotation of big multimedia data - Object and/or context based multimedia information retrieval - Multimedia networking and communication - Emotion and semantics in content-based retrieval systems - Multi-modal multimedia computing systems and human-machine interaction - Multimedia activity and event understanding - Mobile multimedia analysis and retrieval - Location based multimedia information retrieval - Semantic-based multimedia retrieval and annotation - Mobile Multimedia Systems and Applications - Cloud-assisted multimedia systems - Human computer interaction based on multimedia - Entertainment, gaming and e-learning - 3D / AR / VR / MR, Animation - Multimedia system for traffic and public security - Multimedia networking and distributed multimedia systems - Multimedia security, rights management and forensics - Cross-language and Multilingual multimedia IR - Multimedia systems for medical, digital library and SNS - Social media, user-generated, and cloud-based big multimedia - Hardware and software for multimedia systems - Multimedia IoT - Multimedia for smart homes - Multimedia applications using wearable technologies - Multimedia tools (authoring, analyzing, editing, and browsing) - Multimedia quality assessment - Multimedia standards and related issues

()() Submission and publication ()() The conference will include keynote addresses, tutorials, and regular and workshop sessions. SITIS'17 invites submission of high quality and original papers on the topics listed above. All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed by at least three reviewers for technical merit, originality, significance and relevance to track topics. Papers must be up to 8 pages and follow IEEE double columns publication format. Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings and published by IEEE Computer Society and referenced in IEEE explore and major indexes.

()() Journal special issue ()() Extended version of selected accepted papers will be considered for publication in a major journal.
