In recent years, MDA and associated MDE methodologies, approaches and
languages (like QVT) emphasized the role that OCL has to play in MDE
development. Moreover, beyond using OCL in specifying assertions and
operations, new approaches and visions reveal beneficial usage of OCL
in quite different applications domains (e.g.,domain-specific languages, 
web semantics) and for various purposes (e.g., model verification and 
validation, code-generation, test-driven development, transformations). 

This workshop pretends to consolidate and expand the role of OCL among 
the modeling community by creating a road map for research and development 
that could potentially drive the building of a new generation of OCL tools,
able to support all these new OCL applications, extensions and usages.

Topics
------

This workshop solicits research contributions and experience reports
related to the development, application, evaluation and comparison of 
the OCL language and of all kinds of OCL-related tools.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

- Innovative OCL tools:
  * validation, verification, and testing,
  * model transformation and code-generation,
  * tool specific solutions to open problems in the OCL standard.
- Useful algorithms, libraries and patterns for OCL.
- Complexity results for the OCL language.
- Quality models for comparing and evaluating OCL tools.
- Benchmarks for OCL tools:
  * input/output tests for compilers/interpreters,
  * performance tests.
- New requirements for OCL tools.
- Reuse and interoperability of OCL tools.
- Experience reports:
  * usage of OCL and OCL tools in complex domains,
  * usability of the OCL and of the OCL tools for end-users.

Venue
-----

The workshop will be organized as a part of MODELS/UML 2008 Conference
in Toulouse, France. It continues the series of OCL workshops held
at previous UML/MODELS conferences: York (2000), Toronto (2001), San
Francisco (2003), Lisbon (2004), Montego Bay (2005), Genova
(2006) and Nashville (2007). Similar to its predecessors, the workshop
addresses both people from academia and industry. The aim is to provide 
a forum for exchanging views on OCL and OCL tools wrt. the visions of MDA and MDE, 
languages and methodologies. Furthermore, the workshop calls out to 
research groups working on important research domains like Semantic Web 
or Business Process Modeling to consider the usage of OCL and to specify 
OCL tools functionalities and features needed.

Workshop Format
---------------

The workshop will include short (about 15 min) presentations, parallel
sessions of working groups, and sum-up discussions. 

Submissions
-----------

Full papers should be 5-15 pages in length in LNCS style. Papers must
be submitted by email in PDF format to jcabot@uoc.edu. All submissions
will be acknowledged.

The program committee will review the submissions and select papers
according to their relevance and interest for the discussions that
will take place at the workshop.

Accepted papers will be made available well before the workshop, 
on the workshop web page as well as in the http://www.metamodel.com and 
http://www-st.inf.tu-dresden.de/ocl/ (the OCL Portal) web sites.

Polished versions of accepted papers will be published in the
Electronic Communications of the EASST, eceasst.cs.tu-berlin.de. 

The best two contributions will be included in the MODELS 2008 Satellite
Event Proceedings, published by Springer in the LNCS series.
