On behalf of the 2018 Annual Simulation Symposium (ANSS’18) committee of the Society for Modeling and Simulation (SCS), we want to thank students, researchers, and industry and government practitioners for contributing to make this a successful conference. ANSS is not only the oldest continuously operating symposium  within  SCS, but  also  one  that  reflects  the  breadth and  depth  of  Modeling  and  Simulation  research, applications, and technologies. 2018 marks the 50th year of ANSS. Since 1968, ANSS has been a forum to exchange ideas, research results, methods, techniques, and application among simulationists from industry, government, and academia. We are grateful for your contribution to yet another successful year for ANSS. In celebration of our 50th year, we are pleased to present a special track on cyber research. ANSS’18 also features  discussions  ranging  from  computational  advancements  that  improve  the  performance  of  simulations to applications in the domains of infrastructure and education. As in years past, contributors to ANSS represent a wide range of institutions and disciplines and contribute to M&S research in a variety of paradigms. We are extremely thankful to authors, technical reviewers, and academic/industry organizations who have supported ANSS in many ways. Thank you, authors, for submitting high quality papers and participating in the conference. We truly hope that ANSS has provided all participants a sense of community belonging and long-term friendships that will help us move forward to advance the discipline of M&S and contribute to solving pressing real-world issues. The ANSS committee would like to express appreciation to the SpringSim’18 Organizing Committee, to the SCS staff, and to the SCS committees and board of directors for all the hard work that went into the conference
