In order to make information of the various fields of science available Openresearch relies on a network of volunteer editors and associate editors. The tasks of an editor are to maintain a community portal for the scientific field assigned to him, create awareness for Openresearch in his respective community, support members of his community with regard to the use of the system and to work with other editors and the board of Openresearch to advance the platform and the transparency of science in general.

Becoming an Editor
In order to become and Openresearch category editor:
- try to get familiar with the structure of Openresearch and the Semantic Wiki concepts
- revise and organize existing content
- look for a scientific field in your area of competence and contribute new content to that category
- once you contributed a significant amount of content you can become an editor or associate editor for that category for a certain time
- you should be willing to serve for at least one year
- you will be appointed as an editor of the category by the committee of editors of sibling and parent categories
- associate editors are appointed by the committee of category editor and existing associate editors of that category
- if you are the first editor of a category you will after one year and comprehensive representation of the field be awarded the title of a founding editor for that category
- if the scientific field of your area of competence has already an editor you can become an associate editor and at a later stage replace the current editor (Openresearch aims at rotating editors in certain intervals)
Duties
The duties of an Openresearch category editor are:
- be responsible that the scientific field of that category is comprehensively represented this includes future events as well as historical data about e.g. about acceptance rates of the main conferences in the field
- invite associate editors for the category to take care of certain content types or subfields
- work closely together with editors of parent and child categories
- respond timely to Openresearch inquiries related to the field
- raise awareness about the features and prospects of Openresearch in the scientific field
Benefits
Benefits of being an Openresearch category editor are:
- you will timely know about everything going on in your field of research
- you help young researchers to get easier involved in your field and thus your field will be strengthened in general
- you will be in touch with and approached by the important people of the field (project / event organizers, tool developers)
