Pervasive computing envisages a world of communicating miniature devices, sensors and actuators to provide ambient and personalised services. Building on the current technology, it is ready for a wide range of applications that support and gradually change our everyday life. The goal of ICPCA2009 is to further explore both theoretical and practical issues in pervasive computing. It also aims to foster the exchange of ideas and collaboration for both researchers and practitioners. The organising committee is soliciting paper submissions for the main conference and its special tracks.

Following on the success of previous conferences in the series held in Urmqi, China (August 2006), Birmingham, UK (July 2007), and Alexandria, Egypt (October 2008), the 4th International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Appilcations (ICPCA2009) will be held between 28-30 September 2009, in Aizu, Japan. ICPCA2009 features one generic technical track and six special interest tracks.

Topics

Interested topics include (but are not limited to):

Software infrastructure, middleware and frameworks for pervasive computing
Mobile and Wearable Computing
Wireless Networks and Communications for Pervasive Computing
The Semantic Web and Pervasive Computing
Cross-Media for Pervasive Computing
The Data Grid and Pervasive Computing
Data and knowledge management for Pervasive Computing
HCI Technologies for Pervasive Computing
Security, Trust, Privacy, and other Socio-technical Issues in Pervasive Computing
Innovative Applications of Pervasive Computing and case studies
ICPCA2009 extends its interests in pervasive computer with special tracks on collaborative work, health care, e-learning, etc. In addition to technical papers, ICPCA2009 will include keynote speeches, late breaking results, poster presentations, and demonstrations.

Submission of Papers
All papers must be unpublished and should not be under simultaneous review for any other conferences and workshops. Papers must be written in English and formatted according to the IEEE conference proceedings. Research papers should be no more than six pages including references and illustrations.
Position papers and system demos are also welcome. Electronic submissions in PDF or PS format are recommended.

Publication
All papers will be peer-reviewed by members of the ICPCA2009 programme committee and selected reviewers. Papers are selected based on their originality, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation. Accepted papers will be included in the IEEE Xplore digital library and are EI-indexed. Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit a revised and expanded version of their papers to be considered for publication in special issues of international journals.

Special Tracks
Special tracks are an integral part of ICPCA2009 offering researchers in focused areas a forum for wide interaction and collaboration. Accepted papers in special tracks are expected to meet the same quality requirements and will be published in ICPCA2009 conference proceedings.

For paper submissions, authors should follow the link from the main ICPCA2009 web page and specify in which track her paper should be considered. The special tracks for ICPCA2009 are:

Pervasive Collaboration
Ubiquitous Learning
Smart Space
Ubiquitous Healthcare
Application Platform for Pervasive Computing
Pervasive Environmental Monitoring and Emergency Control
