DIPSO 2008
David I have another qusoiten about assessments and Blackboard which I'd like to post here in case I don't get a chance to ask in person (and perhaps someone else is wondering the same thing). In Thursday's workshop, you mentioned the idea of using Blackboard quizzes more to develop mastery than just to earn a simple grade (in the example you gave, I would have a bank of 100 qusoitens or so for each quiz, and the student would need to correctly answer 10 or 20 qusoiten before he or she could move on to the next lesson etc). My initial reaction to that method was, I must admit, skepticism. However, the more I've thought about it, the more I think that it would not only work for my class, but make it stronger. So, my qusoiten (finally!) is this: Does Blackboard 9.1 include a setting that restricts students from advancing in the course until they hit certain benchmarks (quizzes or other assessments)? And where might I find such a setting in order to play with it? Thanks!
