Conference name: PECCS Special Session on Self-Aware and Adaptive Embedded Systems - SAAES 2011
Venue: Algarve, Portugal
Event Date: 5-7 March, 2011
Co-chairs
Jouni Isoaho University of Turku Finland
Juha Plosila University of Turku Finland
Scope
Self-aware and adaptive (SAA) systems are capable of monitoring their own states and the surrounding environment, and adapt themselves to different scenarios and requirements. The concept of self-awareness and adaptivity belongs to the wide scope of autonomic computing, while focusing on the aspects of awareness and adaptation. SAA features become essential in the emerging and future embedded system, as the number of components and their heterogeneity increase significantly, for both single-chip parallel processing and physically distributed processing. While existing works propose various superior features for adaptive systems, practical and efficient solutions to achieve SAA systems still call for wider and more dedicated efforts, including the discussion on SAA theory and modeling, scalable design approaches and framework, design techniques and practical implementation for low-power/energy, high dependability and security, etc.. The SAAES special session addresses these important and challenging topics. Topics of interest This special session welcomes both regular papers and positional papers (with innovative and well-explained ideas but not yet complete implementation) in the following and related areas:
* Theory, Specification, Modeling and Implementation of Self-aware and Adaptive Systems * Application Engineering for SAA Systems * Self Design for SAA Systems * Self-aware and Adaptive Operations for Energy Efficiency, Dependability and Security * Formal Methods in the Design and Verification of SAA Systems * Wireless Sensor Networks with Self-aware and Adaptive Features * Case Studies for Smart Houses, Intelligent Automotive or other Industrial Scenarios * Self-aware and Adaptive Cyber-physical Systems (CPS) in the Embedded System Context
